Dark Girls for Wellness Launches Citywide Billboard Marketing campaign Advocating for Dark Maternal and Toddler Fitness, Empowering Dark Moms to Get up Up In opposition to Discrimination in Healthcare
(Los Angeles, CA / August 20, 2024) – Dark Girls for Wellness (BWW) is proud to announce the inauguration of a citywide billboard marketing campaign geared toward elevating consciousness about Dark maternal and toddler fitness, with a focal point on fighting discrimination in healthcare. Funded through First 5 LA, this marketing campaign includes a robust presence of our Fierce Aunties and urges Dark girls to suggest for his or her rights and dignity throughout being pregnant and childbirth.
The billboards ship two important messages:
- Dark Girls Deserve Dignity in Being pregnant and Childbirth
Recognize. Trait Aid. Empowerment. For Each Start. - Dark Mamas Deserve Recognize in Healthcare. Know Your Rights!
Experiencing discrimination from a scientific supplier? You’ll be able to report a complaint.
Healthcare amenities are required to serve data to sufferers on the right way to report a complaint, a important step in preserving suppliers responsible and addressing discriminatory practices. BWW is dedicated to equipping Dark girls with the information and gear they wish to get up up towards unfair remedy, emphasizing the significance of submitting grievances to fight implicit partiality in healthcare. Implicit partiality will have a profound affect at the trait of support, or inadequency thereof, gained through Dark girls. This marketing campaign highlights the significance of spotting and addressing those biases to build a extra equitable healthcare device, empowering Dark girls to suggest for themselves and assure their voices are heard.
“Filing a grievance is a powerful tool for ensuring accountability and driving change in healthcare. Our work in Maternal and Infant Health (MIH) underscores our commitment to ensuring that Black women receive the dignity and respect they deserve throughout their perinatal journey,” says Meron Shita, Civic Engagement Supervisor at Dark Girls for Wellness.
Gabrielle Brown, Program Supervisor of Dark Maternal and Toddler Fitness at Dark Girls for Wellness, provides, “Ensuring that pregnant patients are informed about how to file a grievance is not just a legal requirement — it’s a step toward accountability in healthcare. This requirement empowers Black mothers to stand up against disparities and demand the care they deserve, helping to bring about long-overdue change in maternal healthcare.”
