Summer is in full swing and we are all about that melanin glow. We also want to make sure you are taking care of your skin in all ways. And, that means reaching for some sunscreen. Yes, I know you don’t think you need it, but trust, many of us are getting burned. Literally.

Even though darker skin tones naturally have up to SPF 13 protection, according to Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 13% of Black women and 9% of Black men still report sunburn each year. That’s because we need a minimum of SPF 30 to fully protect us from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation. We are also more likely to experience fatal complications if we do battle cancer.

And for those of us who are worried about that white-cast residue — stop! We’ve pulled together a list of Black-owned offerings that serve double duty as moisturizers and sunscreens to help protect your skin and keep it glowing, happy and healthy. Swipe through to check out these must-haves that are actually invisible on darker skin tones.
