    FAQS & Tips

    What is marry me chicken?

Marry me chicken is a dish created by a Delish staffer a decade ago. The name is based on what the a videographer blurted out after trying it, “I’d marry you for that chicken!”. It implies that the recipe is so goof that it’s said it could inspire a marriage proposal. These days, there are tons of variations of this recipe. This slow cooker marry me chicken is based on the original recipe.

Is this the same recipe as Tuscan chicken?

It’s not the same as my Tuscan chicken recipe but it’s very similar. The main difference is that this marry me chicken uses thyme, basil, and red pepper flakes while the Tuscan chicken calls for Italian seasoning, spinach, and pepper.

    Can you use chicken thighs?

Yes! Chicken thighs are more forgiving and stay extra juicy. Cooking time remains about the same.

    Can you make this dairy-free?

You can substitute the heavy cream with full-fat coconut milk (the flavor will change slightly) and omit the Parmesan cheese.

    How spicy is this recipe?

It has a mild kick from the red pepper flakes. Adjust up or down based on your personal preference.

    How do you serve this?

The sky is the limit! Suggestions include over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.

    How do you store leftovers?

Store leftover slow cooker marry me chicken in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

What size slow cooker did you use?

I use a  6-quart slow cooker or Instant Pot for this recipe.
