    Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPS) Update:

    The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Department of Athletics is excited to partner with DiaBeating The Odds and BOAW Fitness to host the 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Back-to-School Event on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Groves High School.

    This community event is designed to help families prepare for a successful school year while prioritizing health, wellness, and community connection.

    • Date: Saturday, July 18, 2026
    • Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Doors open at 9:15 AM)
    • Location: Groves High School
      100 Priscilla D. Thomas Way
      Garden City, GA

    What Families Can Expect

    • Free youth basketball clinic (ages 5–13)
    • Free Zumba class (all ages)
    • Free haircuts and two-braid hairstyles courtesy of UnCut Barber Academy
    • Free backpacks and school supplies
    • Free family meal and a thirty-minute wellness conversation focused on diabetes
    • Health screenings, vaccines, and sports physicals provided by Curtis V. Cooper Primary Care (most insurance plans accepted)
    • SCCPSS Student and Family Engagement resource table
    • Community organizations and family-friendly vendors
    • Atlanta Hawks giveaways, raffle prizes, and more

    This event is open to all SCCPSS students and families!

    Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

    Attendees who pre-register and check in between 9:15 AM and 10:00 AM will receive priority for meal tickets, backpacks, and school supplies. Beginning at 10:00 AM, all remaining items will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
