    Key takeaways
    • Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office received multiple calls about someone livestreaming acts of self-harm; deputies spoke with family outside the residence.
    • The office later identified the person as Perez Hilton, born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr..
    • Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals went to the scene to provide support and resources to his family.
    • TikTok removed the video and suspended his account after clips circulated; viewers posted about it across X and TikTok.
    • Perez Hilton built a major gossip site in 2004, faced widespread criticism from celebrities, then softened his persona and embraced family life with three children.

A Perez Hilton TikTok livestream sent Miami-Dade deputies to his home on Tuesday night, and the sheriff’s office confirmed he was safely recovered and transported to a local hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told Rolling Stone it received multiple calls about a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media. Deputies located the residence and spoke with family members outside, who confirmed he was alone in the house. The office later identified the person as Hilton. Its Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals went to the scene to provide support and resources to his family.

The video was taken down and that TikTok suspended his account. That happened after the stream had already run long enough for viewers to place calls to police, post about it across X and TikTok, and circulate clips of it.

There is a particular weight to this happening to Perez Hilton specifically. Born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., he launched his gossip site in 2004 and turned it into one of the biggest celebrity destinations on the early internet, running breaking entertainment news alongside commentary that was frequently cruel by design. He built the template that a generation of blogs and, later, social accounts would copy. He was also one of the most disliked figures in the business he helped create. Lady Gaga, once a friend, Miley Cyrus, and Khloé Kardashian are among the many people who have publicly condemned how he wrote about them.

He spent the back half of the last decade softening that persona. He leaned into fatherhood, brought family content onto his site and channels, and stopped swinging at people the way he once did. He has three children, and in June he posted on YouTube that the family was moving to Miami. That move is a couple of months old.

He and his representatives have not commented. Neither has TikTok. There is no public information about his condition beyond the sheriff’s office confirming he is receiving medical attention at a hospital.

If you or someone you know is struggling, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available by calling or texting 988, and the Crisis Text Line can be reached by texting HOME to 741741.
