    Animal cruelty suspect arrested in Brookhaven

    The Brookhaven Police Department arrested Valentina Tobon Henao, 25, in connection with an animal cruelty investigation that occurred on
    Aug. 5, in the area of Peachtree Road and Osborne Road.

    According to a release from the department, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Brookhaven Police officers responded to the area after receiving a report of animal cruelty.

    A witness reported observing a person inside a silver Toyota Sienna discard multiple kittens from the vehicle while traveling in the area of Osborne Road toward Peachtree Road.

    The witness was able to provide officers with the vehicle’s license plate information and a description of the driver.

    Officers responded to the area described by the witness and located a dead kitten in the roadway near the 2700 block of Osborne Road.

    Through the investigation, officers identified the vehicle involved and determined that Tobon Henao was in control of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

    Brookhaven officers later located her at a nearby business and conducted additional
    investigative steps.

    Based on the witness statement, evidence collected, and information developed during the investigation, officers established probable cause to arrest Tobon Henao. She remains in DeKalb County Jail, according to records, charged with one felony count of animal cruelty.
