County approves federal grant plan to serve more than 15,000 residents
More than $8.9 million in federal funding will be directed toward housing and food assistance for Gwinnett County residents. The Board of Commissioners approved submission of the 2026 action plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which outlines how funds from three federal grant programs — the Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships Program and Emergency Solutions Grant — will be spent.
This year’s plan distributes funding across 54 projects, including the construction of more than 90 affordable housing units. Housing and food assistance were identified as priorities through the needs assessment process and community data. The grants are 100% federally funded with no County match required.
