Storm guard Flau’jae Johnson was selected to the 2026 WNBA All-Rookie Team on Wednesday, joining Olivia Miles, Azzi Fudd, Kiki Rice, Sydney Taylor and Pauline Astier.
Johnson, the No. 8 pick in April’s draft out of LSU, started all 42 games she played in this season and averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks.
Johnson turned in a well-rounded rookie season, becoming the first player in WNBA history to record 600 points, 200 rebounds, 100 assists, 50 steals and 28 blocks in their first year. Johnson finished eighth all-time for total points by a rookie with 626, which was good for first in Storm history.
Even as the Storm finished last in the WNBA with an 8-36 record, Johnson set a franchise rookie record with six 25-point games.
“It didn’t end on a note that I wanted to end on, but I’m so grateful for the experience,” Johnson said Sept. 24, the day after the Storm ended the season on a five-game losing streak.
“Experience is the best teacher, and I feel like it’s allowed me to be light years ahead of where I could have been.”
As her first WNBA offseason began, Johnson said she was grateful and happy, but also mad. Naturally she wanted to be in the playoffs instead of watching them.
“This season leads me with the burning desire to like get better,” Johnson said. “A real hunger to use everything as motivation.
“It takes time, and we building, we growing. But I’m a competitor, so I’m gonna use that.”
Johnson was previously named to the AP All-Rookie team, alongside the exact same group.
Miles was unanimously named the AP Rookie of the Year. The No. 2 pick in 2026 averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds for the first-place Minnesota Lynx. She set the WNBA record for points by a rookie with 790, surpassing Caitlin Clark’s total of 769 from 2024.
