Oatland Island Wildlife Center Receives Generous Donation for Greenhouse Renovation
Oatland Island Wildlife Center is honored to announce a generous $10,000 donation from Ann Richardson in loving memory of her son, Dickie Haskell, who tragically lost his life in a boating accident. Dickie had a passion for supporting community gardens, and this meaningful contribution will honor his legacy by helping create opportunities for environmental education and community engagement.
Ann is a dedicated member of Friends of Oatland Island (FOO) and a faithful weekly volunteer at Oatland Island Wildlife Center’s Welcome Center. Her continued generosity and commitment to Oatland reflect her passion for supporting the facility and its educational mission.
The donation will be made through Friends of Oatland Island, Inc. (FOO), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2001 to support Oatland Island Wildlife Center’s staff and animal residents. FOO will receive the $10,000 contribution to support the renovation and enhancement of Oatland’s greenhouse.

The greenhouse renovation will provide an improved space for hands-on environmental education, allowing students and visitors to explore plant science, sustainability, and the importance of protecting our natural environment.

Oatland Island Wildlife Center extends its heartfelt appreciation to Ann Richardson for her generosity, faithful volunteer service, and commitment to honoring her son’s memory through a project that will benefit students, families, and the Savannah community for years to come.
