Joy George Biddar
Joy Lynn George Biddar, 78, formerly of Darien, passed away on St. Simons Island on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, Jan. 20, at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Darien.
She was a native of Huntington, West Virginia, and moved to Darien at an early age. She is a 1964 graduate of Glynn Academy. While rearing her young family in Atlanta, she enjoyed a career working for the Atlanta Ballet. Upon moving back to the Georgia Coast, Joy was the sales director for several hotels on Jekyll Island, and worked for both the Golden Isles and McIntosh Chambers of Commerce. She delighted in helping candidates on political campaigns for many years.
Joy was an artist and decorator, and love entertaining her family and friends.
Preceded in death are her son, John Paul Biddar III; her parents, Vida Mae and Jimmie George; grandparents, John and Thelma Pack, and Charles and Rose George; and godmother, Faye Brangham.
Surviving are her children, George Ashley Biddar (Indigo) and Melissa Biddar Lancaster (Vic); grandchild, Wiley Belle Lancaster; brother, Dr. John Pack George (Kimberly) of Savannah; sister, Rose Anne George Giles (John) of Shellman Bluff; nephews, John George and Dr. Andrew George (Gabby); nieces, Margaret Mae George, Elizabeth Giles Gillespie (Jay), Allison Giles and Stephanie Lynn Giles Finnegan (Drew); godchildren, Jon Perry, as well as nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Allison and Andrew; and dear friend, Nancie Perry.
