Award-winning image guide creator and BBS fam Tameka Fryer Brown is well-known for her lyrical and spare however gorgeously poetic prose. From her early Round Our Method on Neighbors’ Day and My Chilly Plum Lemon Pie Bluesy Temper, to the newer Brown Child Lullaby and Twelve Dinging Doorbells, Tameka’s phrases are really music to our ears, her tales sing a uniquely highly effective tune. Her newest launch, NOT DONE YET: Shirley Chisholm’s Battle for Change, illustrated by Nina Crews, is not any exception, referred to as “an ideal introduction to younger readers all over the place” by Kirkus in a starred evaluate. It was an honour and pleasure to spend a while in dialog with Tameka on what it meant to inform a narrative of the life and work of Shirley Chisholm, and the way readers of all ages can draw inspiration from her story.
