Game On: Latest in Gaming News, Reviews & Industry Buzz
E3 is long dead. Is Kentia still a threat? We may never know.
But, that ain’t stoppin’ these presentations, showcases, press conferences, developer directs, or whatever the hell else they’re calling these things these days. A week from right now, Geoff Keighley will be telling you about some type of WORLD PREMIERE, so put your Switch 2 down and get your leaf blowers ready. It’s a mess, so I’m here to keep track of it for you. I will keep this updated as best I can.
Here’s what we know so far:
If you don’t like colorful charts, here’s a basic text rundown:
The State of Unreal

Epic is holding Unreal Fest in Orlando. As part of that, they’re streaming a presentation to show off the future of Unreal Engine. Nintendo is one of the partnered sponsors, so who knows what might show up here.
The MIX

This will be the sixth annual showcase from what was formerly known as the Guerrilla Collective, which highlights indie games. There will also be a Steam page highlighting all of the games. They will also be doing an in-person event on June 6 on the roof of the Grammy Museum at LA Live.
PlayStation State of Play

Friendly reminder that it’s been four years since they showed that teaser for Marvel’s Wolverine.

Access-Ability Showcase

For the third year, the Access-Ability Showcase aims to highlight games that feature the best accessibility options as well as games made by disabled developers. Their page says there will be at least 20 games featured.
Summer Game Fest

Geoff Keighley’s quest for world domination continues.
WORLD PREMIERE!!
Day of the Devs

Presented by Double Fine and iam8bit, the SGF edition of Day of the Devs will feature over a dozen indie games. Conveniently, this broadcast will begin immediately following Geoff Keighley’s presentation on the same channel. So, you don’t even have to do anything!
Devolver Direct

Devolver is back with what will assuredly be a truly absurd stream with a handful of cool games. I’m not sure anything will ever match the Nina Struthers saga though.
Wholesome Direct

The Wholesome Direct is typically an hour-long, rapid-fire showcase of dozens of indie games. A few years ago, it was co-hosted by Mary Kish. It will be the first of a marathon of indie streams on Saturday.
Women-Led Games Showcase

The WLG showcase focuses on studios that are led by women or consist of a majority of women. Their showcase this year plans on showcasing 39 games.
Latin American Games Showcase

Presented by Raw Fury, the LAG Showcase is set to be an hour of premieres and trailers from Latin American developers. Their last showcase had over 70 games, so expect this to be rapid fire. Their previous showcase was almost entirely in Spanish with some subtitles, so keep that in mind.
Southeast Asian Games Showcase

Also presented by Raw Fury as well as Ysbryd Games and Toge Productions, the SEAG Showcase is new this year. Not a lot of details on this one yet.
Green Games Showcase

Hosted by PlanetPlay, the Green Games Showcase is a new stream this year. It is focused on games highlight environmental issues. Participating studios are said to include Team17, Amazon Games, Sharkmob, and more.

Future Games Show

For the last several years, GamesRadar has done a presentation that features mostly third-party games that aren’t quite big enough to make it onto the bigger events. Usually a few cool things to find here.
Frosty Games Fest

It may be summer in Los Angeles, but it’s winter in Australia and New Zealand. This new addition to the SGF line-up is set to feature an hour of games from Oceania.
Xbox Games Showcase / The Outer Worlds 2 Direct

You can cancel E3, but you can’t kick Microsoft out of the Microsoft Peacock YouTube Theater. They’re going to do a full showcase to show off their totally-not-monopoly of game studios. Last year, the show was followed by a full hour presentation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This year, they’re devoting a big chunk of time to The Outer Worlds 2 from Obsidian Entertainment.
PC Gaming Show

Since 2015, PC Gamer has put on a sometimes funny sometimes cringe-worthy show hosted by Sean “Day[9]” Plott. If you’re bad at math, that makes this the 11th one. Once again, it will immediately follow the Xbox presentations on Sunday.
Black Voices in Gaming

The folks at The MIX (formerly Guerrilla Collective) have one of the first SGF streams and apparently the last one. Black creators worldwide will be featured in this stream on Monday.
