Tucker Carlson exposed Senator Ted Cruzโs complete deference to Israel by asking him some very basic questions about Iran. Cruz was unable to answer, falling into one rhetorical trap after another until he snapped. The moment, a preview of Wednesdayโs The Tucker Carlson Show, quickly went viral.ย
โHow many people live in Iran by the way?โ Carlson asked the Texas senator.
โI donโt know the population,โ Cruz replied.ย
โAt all?โ
โNo, I donโt know the populationโย
โYou donโt know the population of the country you seek to topple?โ Carlson replied, clearly surprised.ย
โHow many people are living there?โ Cruz asked.
โ92 million.โฆ How could you not know that?โ
โI donโt sit around memorizing population tables.โย
โWell, itโs kind of relevant because youโre calling for the overthrow of the government.โย
Cruz grew continuously frustrated, calling Carlsonโs line of questioning โcute,โ while Carlson expressed alarm over the fact that a sitting Republican senator didnโt know very simple information about the country heโs calling for a U.S.-orchestrated coup in. Then, Cruz proceeded to slip.ย ย
โYou donโt believe theyโre trying to murder Trump because youโre not calling for military strikes against them in retaliation,โ Carlson said.ย
โWe are carrying out military strikes todayโโ
โYou said Israel was,โ Carlson replied, his ears perking up.ย
โRight, with our help. I said โwe.โ Israel is leading them; weโre supporting them.โ
โWell, this, youโre breaking news here because the U.S. government last night denied, the National Security Council spokesman Alex Pfeifferย denied, on behalf of Trump, that we were acting on Israelโs behalf in any offensive capacity.โย
โWeโre not bombing them, Israelโs bombing them,โ Cruz replied, splitting hairs.ย
โYou just said we were.โฆ This is high stakes, youโre a senator. If youโre saying the United States government is at war with Iran right now, people are listening.โย
Cruz tried to clean up his mess after-the-fact and stuck to the same talking points.
โDid a long interview w/ Tucker. He released a snippet playing a โgotchaโ on the population of Iran. I declined to play that silly game,โ he said. โWATCH the full 2-hr interview, where Tucker ATTACKS Trump, attacks the โAIPAC lobby,โ & falsely claims Iran is NOT trying to assassinate Trump.โ
