From Hollywood to Home: Black Voices in Entertainment

Renovation crews are hard at work on the White House grounds, but this time it’s not just a facelift — it’s a full-on transformation. Donald Trump is paving over the iconic Rose Garden, turning one of the nation’s most beloved outdoor landmarks into something far more… concrete.

Originally designed in 1913 by First Lady Ellen Wilson and later transformed into a cultural symbol by Jackie Kennedy in 1962, the Rose Garden has long been a visual centerpiece of the White House. Kennedy’s vision, brought to life by landscape designer Rachel Lambert Mellon, gave us the lush, colorful garden that became a backdrop for everything from press conferences to state visits.

But all that history may soon be replaced by hard pavement.

Trump’s is removing the traditional flower beds and replacing the greenery with a paved surface.

From Edith Roosevelt’s colonial garden to Jackie Kennedy’s elegant redesign, the Rose Garden has stood as a tribute to history, diplomacy, and beauty. Now, under Trump’s watch, it’s facing a controversial makeover that’s already raising eyebrows across the political spectrum.
