At Nando’s, we love taking southern African creativity to the rest of the world. Amapiano, the uniquely South African style of music that blends piano with jazz and house music, has exploded in popularity in recent years and taken the music world by storm.
Through our Mix It Up collaborations, Nando’s is firing up the airwaves with some of the hottest new Amapiano tracks, featuring creative collaborations from a range of exciting musicians and producers from South Africa, the UK and beyond. Our latest EP, Mix It Up Vol. 3 dropped in July 2024 and features various international talents, including American rapper and hip-hop artist, A$AP NAST, award-winning Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer and actress, Teni, and the first drill rapper to land a Top 50 chart position in the UK, Unknown T.
Top talents from around the globe
These hot young talents collaborated with South African producers Duppy, Nkulee and Toby Franco. Duppy produced the track “No Police”, an exciting and infectious blend of UK Drill and Amapiano. Nkulee produced “Living My Life“, a blend of thumping Amapiano and exceptional musicality teamed with beautiful electric piano and live bass. Toby Franco produced “Come Closer”, an energetic track showcasing Teni’s vocal talents and musical prowess.
The executive producer behind Mix It Up Vol.3 is award-winning South African producer, singer and songwriter, Musa Keys, in partnership with Nando’s Creativity music partner, Bridges For Music, a non-profit organisation focused on empowering young talent from under-served communities to thrive in the creative industries.
Born in Giyani, Limpopo, Musa Keys is affectionately known as Tsonga Michael Jackson for his flamboyant style and incredible stage presence. He followed his Platinum-selling 2020 hit single, “Samarian Boy”, with his 2021 3x Platinum-selling single, “Vula Mlomo”, which gained traction across the continent and saw him performing in Tanzania, Ghana, Zambia and Kenya as part of his 2021 Keys To Africa Tour. “Vula Mlomo” also went on to win Record Of The Year at the South African Music Awards.
Studio collaborations
As with the previous Mix It Up EPs produced, Mix It Up Vol. 3 was recorded and produced between Nando’s sponsored Flame Studios in Johannesburg and Nando’s Soho recording studio in London.
Flame Studios, named for the Flame of Democracy, is a world-class music recording studio at Constitution Hill and an independent non-profit company that aims to be a sustainable creative and cultural hub anchored by music and the rich history of South Africa.
