- Arknights: Endfield’s first major beta test begins today, but only for PC
- Desktop players will have a chance to get to grips with new content, characters and more
- It seems developer Gryphline are extending a bit of an olive branch to PC with this early access
If you’re a huge Arknights fan, you’ve probably been watching the development of Arknights: Endfield with keen interest as this sequel-slash-successor begins to take shape. Sadly, although a new beta test is kicking off as of the time of writing, it remains PC-only!
But, as stinging as that’ll be to long-time mobile fans, it does mean that we’re likely to hear more from devoted followers of Gryphline’s fledgling franchise once they’ve had a chance to get to grips with Endfield. Set in the world of the original Arknights, Endfield promises to take the series into the 3D RPG genre laid out by predecessors such as MiHoYo’s Genshin Impact.
Once we start getting news trickling out from this beta test we’ll also learn a lot more about Endfield, with new characters, dodge mechanics, combos and more set to be introduced to the audience in this latest test. That’s on top of new maps, puzzle and dungeon content, alongside a variety of other enhancements.
To the end
Now, admittedly I am exaggerating just a teeny bit about the stinging remark above. But at the same time, it is interesting to see PC prioritised slightly over mobile here, especially when most of you are likely familiar with the series from its presence on mobile. Much like NetEase’s Once Human, it appears that many developers are hedging their bets a bit and extending an olive branch to the folks over on the PC platform.
Admittedly I don’t expect Endfield to have anything like the delay for a mobile release that Once Human has had, but it’s very much worth keeping in mind as more information about this sequel comes in.
