BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged a Bluffton man with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor.
Harvey Mackenzie Bethea, 35, was charged Wednesday with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor. This comes after Bethea allegedly made repeated advances towards a 16-year-old girl who he had hired to work for him.
According to a release from SLED, Bethea repeatedly asked her if she was willing to perform a sex act on him in exchange for a puppy.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) requested the investigation by SLED after the victim reported the incident to law enforcement.
Bethea was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
