METTER, Ga. (WSAV) – Candler County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA) has announced they will temporarily suspend field operations during Hurricane Helene.
The announcement came from the Candler County Sheriff’s Office’s official Facebook.
“As Tropical Event Helene approaches, we anticipate and prepare for significant impacts beginning later today and continuing through the night,” CCEMA said in the post. “Please be advised that when wind speeds reach 40 miles per hour, we will suspend field operations for the safety of our first responders. While we will make every effort to respond to extreme life and property safety incidents, deteriorating conditions may make it impossible for us to do so.”
The post also said that while there will be no curfew issued by the Candler County Board of Commissioners, CCEMA still encouraged safety on the roads as the storm approaches.
