Chatham Area Transit (CAT) Update:

Key takeaways
  • Launch event: Storytime on the Move debuts Sunday, October 26, 2–3 p.m. with a Transit Superheroes theme on a CAT bus.
  • Early literacy focus: Program promotes reading through interactive storytelling, themed activities, and an At-Home Literacy Brochure.
  • Family participation: Children 16 and under attend with a guardian; registration required at catchacat.org/key-highlights.

10/7/2025 – Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) is excited to announce the launch of its newest community engagement initiative, Storytime on the Move, in partnership with the Dream Big Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing literacy for youth.

The very first edition of Storytime on the Move will take place on Sunday, October 26, from 2 – 3 p.m. and will feature a Transit Superheroes theme.  Children 16 and under are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superheroes and climb aboard a CAT bus, from CAT Central, for a lively storytime experience. The program is designed to promote literacy, spark imagination, and provide fun, family-friendly access to public transit.

“CAT is more than just a transportation service—we’re a community partner,” said Stephanie Cutter, Interim Executive Director/CEO. “Through Storytime on the Move, we’re proud to support early literacy while also introducing children and families to the joys of riding public transportation.”

“Through reading, children find the courage to dream and the tools to grow,” said The Dream Big Foundation.

The event will include interactive storytelling, themed activities, and opportunities for families to learn more about CAT services.

Families will also receive an At-Home Literacy Brochure, created by the Dream Big Foundation, which serves as a quick and handy tool to help weave reading and literacy into their everyday routines.

For more information about Storytime on the Move or to sign up, please visit https://catchacat.org/key-highlights/. Parents or guardians are required to accompany their child during the experience and must complete registration using the link provided on the website.
