City of Savannah: Official News, Events & Community Updates

City to Host Super Saturday Grant Kickoff Event June 7

Applications for 2026 for four funding areas open in early June

SAVANNAH – The City of Savannah will host its annual Super Saturday Grant Kickoff workshop on June 7 at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center for local nonprofit organizations who are interested in applying for grants available from the city.

Last year, the City invested more than $1.6 million in local nonprofit programs. Each contract was signed following a competitive grant application process that upon receipt required quarterly reporting, on-site observation, and measurable outcomes.

Beginning in early June, the City will be accepting applications for grants in four focus areas: Community Partnership Program (CPP), Arts and Cultural Enrichment (ACE), Violence Reduction Grant (VRG) and Day Center Mini-Grants.

During the June 7 workshop, staff will provide an overview of each funding opportunity, after which attendees can participate in breakout sessions tailored to their chosen grant program. During these sessions, they will receive step-by-step instructions for completing the application process including a live demonstration of the application software.

CPP grants utilize a competitive process to purchase programs and services from local nonprofits. These programs must further the City’s achievement of priority areas including economic strength/poverty reduction, workforce development, youth development, health & wellness, and public safety.

The City of Savannah’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) has made grant funding available to support community programs that prioritize the safety and well-being of youth. Violence Reduction Grants (VRG) are available for nonprofits that provide services focused on reducing gun violence among Savannah’s youth and young adults—primary serving ages 12 to 25.

To increase exposure to art and culture, and enrich the lives of Savannah residents and guests, the City awards contracts to nonprofits and institutions of higher learning through the Arts and Culture Enrichment Program (ACE). ACE grants are awarded to programs that provide high quality, innovative and creative art and cultural programs that improve the quality of life in a measurable and sustained way.

Nonprofit organizations who provide services and initiatives directly focused on assisting unsheltered persons experiencing homelessness may apply for the Day Center Mini-Grant Program. Applications may receive an award up to a maximum of $25,000 for allowable expenses.

Proposed programs must take place in the 2026 calendar year and within the city limits of Savannah. All interested applicants are encouraged to attend the Super Saturday Grant Kickoff workshop to learn more.
