SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV)—Here’s what we are also keeping an eye on this week, Georgia football after the dogs suffered their first loss of the season this past Saturday at Alabama.
The game ended 41-34.
The AP voters dropped Georgia three spots to No. 5, with it being a really bad game for Heisman hopeful Carson Beck. He accounted for four turnovers, three interceptions and a fumble.
Head Coach Kirby Smart is looking to turn the page and get for the South’s oldest rivalry this Saturday against Auburn. The big concern has been Georgia playing a lot of third down and longs, which makes the game more difficult on offense.
“It doesn’t take a Ph.D. to realize you’re not going to be as good,” Smart said. “So, the inevitable question from the media is, why are you down on third down? Because they’re longer. Why are they longer? Because you’re not doing as well on first and second. And those all lead to execution. What can we do better to avoid third and long? Because you will not be successful in third and longs.”
