Style Spotlight: Looks, Trends & Fashion Inspiration

    Key takeaways
    • Focus on lightweight, breathable fabrics to stay cool in fall while maintaining seasonal silhouettes.
    • Opt for versatile silhouettes, minis, midis, and shirred styles that transition from errands to dinner.
    • Try printed florals, polka dots, animal prints, and rich hues like burgundy, ochre, and teal.
    • Everyday options include T-shirt dresses, denim midis, and ruched or smocked pieces for effortless style.

Fall dresses you can buy and wear right now // Merritt Beck, New York City Fashion Blogger

While the temps are already starting to cool down a bit up in New York, I recognize that’s not the reality for a lot of the country! If you’re ready for a fall wardrobe but you live in a warm climate, don’t miss this post. The one thing that really changed about my style when I moved from Dallas to NYC, is that I wear far fewer dresses! When living in Texas, the heat is oppressive so much of the year that dresses were often the only things that felt comfortable. Wearing anything tight or dealing with multiple pieces of clothing was simply not of interest! Now that I’m living somewhere with a more varied climate, I find I wear more separates as opposed to dresses on the day to day. I’m way more likely to reach for a pair of pants, a skirt or jeans these days!

If you live in Texas or a state that stays hot through the entirety of the fall season, you may be seeking out dresses that feel seasonal without the added weight. So that’s what we’re focusing on today! Below are a bunch of new autumn arrivals in cuts and fabric that will make the heat somewhat bearable.  From everyday silhouettes for work or errands, to dinner dresses and more elevated items, there’s something for everyone!

TOP ROW: TAUPE SHEER MINIDRESS // CAMEL MIDI DRESS // OCHRE CRINKLED MIDI DRESS // OCHRE EMBROIDERED MINIDRESS // RUST V-NECK DRESS // RUST BUSTIER MIDI DRESS // RASPBERRY MINIDRESS

BOTTOM ROW: BURGUNDY LACE TRIM MIDI DRESS // BURGUNDY POLKA DOT DRESS // BURGUNDY HIGH NECK MIDI DRESS // TEAL PRINTED MIDI // TEAL LAYERED HALTER DRESS // GREEN RUCHED MIDI DRESS // GREEN SHIRRED BODICE MIDI DRESS

TOP ROW: MAGENTA T-SHIRT DRESS // POLKA DOT HALTER DRESS // FLORAL PRINT DRESS // BURGUNDY SMOCKED DRESS // COLORBLOCK FLORAL MIDI DRESS // PRINTED PLEATED SLEEVELESS DRESS

BOTTOM ROW: DENIM MIDI DRESS // NAVY T-SHIRT DRESS // PLAID MIDI DRESS // ANIMAL PRINT MIDI DRESS // FLORAL PRINT MIDI DRESS // BLACK MIDI DRESS

PS: I wore this look to the Shopbop cocktail party at New York Fashion Week on Friday! Such a fun night catching up with influencers I know from way back when who came in town this week!
