The Seattle Storm just completed the worst season in franchise history.

But hope is very much on the horizon for one of the WNBA’s most decorated franchises.
The Storm lost to the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night. The 103-91 defeat marked Seattle’s fifth in a row and its 21st in 24 games to end the 2026 season.
Seattle finished 8-36, and by winning percentage, the Storm just endured the worst season it has ever had. During the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, Seattle lost All-Star center Ezi Magbegor to an ACL tear that imperils her 2027 season.

However, the rebuilding Storm has a young core that is preparing to make noise in the near future.
That core — Awa Fam, Flau’jae Johnson and Dominique Malonga — just became the youngest trio of teammates in WNBA history to each score at least 20 points in the same game. Those three players were responsible for 72 of the Storm’s 91 points in Wednesday’s game.
This trio of former top-10 picks — which already has an All-Star selection, courtesy of Malonga this year — is the axis upon which the Storm’s future is being built.
With another top-five pick coming Seattle’s way in 2027, the Storm will add another blue-chip prospect to a young group that needs time and patience to gel.
