SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgia prepares to face Florida following a week off. Georgia Tech’s offense continues to struggle without King running the offense. Multiple win streaks come to an end and the Falcons high flying offense makes another appearance.
Here is this week’s review of college and NFL football around Georgia.
#2 Georgia vs Florida – The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off a bye week and will take on the Florida Gators on Nov. 2 in Jacksonville.
Georgia Southern vs Old Dominion – Georgia Southern saw its three-game win streak snapped on Saturday following a 47-19 loss to Old Dominion. Georgia Southern accounted for 303 yards of total offense on the day but ultimately lost the turnover battle 2-0.
Sophomore QB JC French was 17 of 29 on the day for 259 yards. French threw two touchdowns along with one interception. Senior QB Dexter Williams II saw time under center as well. He threw for 44 yards going 4 for 7 with one touchdown pass.
Junior WR Dalen Cobb and Sophmore WR Josh Dallas each found the endzone Sunday. Cobb had seven catches for 95 yards while Dallas had three catches for 90 yards.
Georgia Southern will now head out on the road to take on the 4-4 South Alabama Jaguars in Mobile this Saturday.
Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech – The Yellow Jackets have now dropped two in a row following a 21-6 loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies. Georgia Tech won the yardage battle putting up 356 total yards against Virginia Tech’s 237. But two turnovers cost them the ability to capitalize.
For the second week in a row, Georgia Tech was without its top signal caller. Freshman Aaron Philo and Sophmore Zach Pyron split time under center. Philo went 11/26 for 184 yards and Pyron finished the day 10 of 22 for 76 yards. Both QBs were responsible for one interception on the day.
The Yellow Jackets are now off for a week before returning to face # 5 Miami at home.
Savannah State vs Lane College – Savannah State has its three-game win streak snapped in a 28-27 loss to Lane College on homecoming. The Tigers posted 351 yards of total offense on the day.
Quarterback Jhaydon Sullivan was 21 of 32 for 323 yards through the air. Sullivan threw two touchdowns and one interception. Senior WR Da’Shun Mitchell had eight catches for 150 yards. Mitchell was also responsible for both of the team’s touchdown receptions.
Savannah State will look to get back in the winning column as they prepare to take on 5-3 Albany State University at home this weekend.
Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Falcons now move into first place in the NFC South standings following a 31-26 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Atlanta’s offense continues to roll as they posted 394 yards of total offense.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins was 23 of 29 on the day for 276 yards and four touchdowns. The Falcons’ two leading receivers on the day were WR Darnell Mooney and TE Kyle Pitts. Mooney had five catches for 92 yards and one touchdown. Pitts finished his day with four catches for 91 yards and two touchdown receptions.
Atlanta will return home this Sunday to take on the 3-4 Dallas Cowboys.
