
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Johnson High school pulled off an improbable comeback Friday night in a 54-54 victory over Jenkins High.
The Atom smashers were down 52-45 with three seconds remaining in the game, before they came storming back to win by one.
The game came down to the final seconds, with the score tied 53-53. Jenkins fouled Johnson’s Favion Kirkwood with only 0.3 seconds remaining in the game.
Kirkwood would miss the first two free throws, then make the third to secure the victory for the Atom smashers.
Another big game win in the area came from Benedictine Military School. The Cadets defeated Ware County at home 71-58.
After the win, Benedictine currently owns the top spot in Region 1-AAAA (6-1) but will still face Warner Robbins twice.
Calvary Day also moved to 11-6 (8-0 in Region 3-AAA) after a 52-32 win against Long County. Cavs’ Kuol Deng dominated offensively and led all scorers with 26.
