Levi Pierce Jr., a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and
friend, was called home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2025, at the age
of 69. Born on December 10, 1955, to the late Levi Sr. and Marie Pierce, he
received his education from the Screven County public school system.
Levi’s life was a testament to hard work and determination. He spent many
years in the timber and forestry industry, where he skillfully operated
chainsaws, skidders, and tractors, earning the respect of his colleagues for
his expertise. His strong work ethic extended beyond the logging industry,
and he worked tirelessly in various other jobs to provide for his family and
loved ones.
Levi loved all things outdoors. After retiring from the logging and timber
industry, where he worked diligently from sunup to sundown, he found
more time to focus on his hobbies—fishing, gardening, grilling, and
spending time sitting on the porch or in his truck, simply enjoying the fresh
air. Affectionately called “Pops” by his family, Levi built strong, lasting
bonds with those around him. He was also known as “Fish” by friends who
shared his love of fishing.
Later in life, Levi found his faith and became a member of Greater Mt.
Moriah in Sylvania, Georgia. This newfound connection brought him
peace and joy in his later years, strengthening the bonds with his family
and community.
Levi was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Elizabeth Williams;
one son, Alfie Williams; three sisters, Quiller Murray Brown, Cassie Trim,
and Nancy Riley; one brother, Johny Pierce; and two grandchildren,
Johnathon Hawkins and baby Aniya Elizabeth Pierce.
Levi leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Lemarr Pierce, Demarr
(Shalanda) Pierce, Levi Williams, and Angelia Williams, all of Statesboro,
GA; his special companion, Janie Mae Grace, and her extended family of
Sylvania, GA; siblings, Catherine Bulloch of Savannah, GA, Florrie Pierce,
Curtis (Cynthia) Pierce, Joseph Pierce, all of Sylvania, GA, and William
H. (Elizabeth) Pierce of Statesboro, GA; special nieces and nephews raised
like his siblings, Katrina Murray, Cynthia D. Kilpatrick, Harold B. Scott,
Freddrick T. Murray, and Terry (Amanda) Pierce; eight grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
Levi was known for his wisdom, kind heart, and sly sense of humor. His
legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts
of those who knew him. Levi will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
