Martavian Roberts, affectionately known as “Tay” passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 40 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on October 29, 1984, in Statesboro, Georgia, to Rufus Roberts and the late Shelia Roberts. Tay was raised in Sylvania where he graduated from Screven County High School in the Class of 2003.
Tay was a bright light to everyone who knew him, known for his contagious smile, quick wit, and the special way he could make anyone laugh, no matter the situation. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of joy that will never be forgotten.
Throughout his life, Tay worked in several roles where his dedication and easygoing spirit shined. No matter the job, Tay brought kindness, reliability, and humor with him every day.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sheila Roberts; his grandparents, Bob and Lelia Williams and Rufus Roberts, Sr. and Cleo Roberts.
Left to cherish his memory, his loving father, Rufus Roberts, Jr; three devoted brothers, Whytwone (Sandra) Roberts of Atlanta, GA, Antodd Roberts of Midway, GA and Rufus (Juliann) Roberts of Statesboro, GA; his loving sister, Basheena (Edward) Carter of Statesboro, GA; he also leaves 11 adoring nieces and nephews, one great niece, and a host of uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Tay’s laughter, love, and light will live on in all of us. He was truly one of a kind, and his legacy of joy and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him.
