Obituary for Micheal Anthony Cohen |“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven. A time to be born and a time to die.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Throughout life, Micheal experienced many difficult seasons, including spending time away from his family. During his time apart from the area and his family, he never lost the love in his heart for his family. This season of life is over, and a new season has begun. Today, our family have found comfort in knowing that at the end of Micheal’s season, our Heavenly Father was there to guide him to his final home.

Micheal Anthony Cohen was born on January 13, 1957, in Brunswick, Georgia.

He was educated in the Glynn County public school system. At an early age, he was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. There are many things in life that brought joy to Micheal’s life. Family was important to Micheal, and he enjoyed the laughter that they shared. One of the funniest moments was when Micheal brought a monkey home. One of his greatest past times was playing pool and just having fun.

Some things in life are impossible for mankind to understand. No man knows the day or time of their departure. God in his infinite wisdom sent His angels to guide Micheal home on October 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Mae Williams; daughter, Vanessa Cohen; grandmother, Margaret Kennedy; brother, Lawrence Cohen, Sr.; and sister, Vanessa Herrington.

He leaves to cherish his memories and continue the family legacy: his children, Donnisha Massey, Marcella Daniels, Vernonia (Micheal) Butler, all of Brunswick, GA, and Michelle Hines of Graniteville, SC; sisters, Pamela Grovner of Brunswick, GA, Retha Cohen (Ware) White of Willingboro, NJ, and Shazaliza Williams of Newark, NJ; brother, Julius Smith, Sr. of Brunswick, GA; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; special niece, Angela Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
