    Key takeaways
    • I Know You Lying debuts globally on Oct. 6, marking Mojo Brookzz's Netflix special.
    • Filmed December 2025 at Center Stage Theatre in Atlanta, directed by Mike "Homeless Pimp" Lavin.
    • Title originates from his 2025 headline tour, a 40-city run selling over 100,000 tickets after Unhand Me Now.
    • Mojo Brookzz bypassed traditional gatekeepers, building an audience through clips and touring, making the streaming deal a formality.
    • Mike "Homeless Pimp" Lavin and 3 Nuts Studios preserved Brookzz's world, avoiding an outside production reshaping the special.

Mojo Brookzz has spent the past two years filling rooms faster than most comedians fill a calendar. Netflix has now caught up.

Blex Media reported that the Chicago comedian, born Dyon Brooks, will release his debut special, “I Know You Lying,” globally on the streamer Oct. 6. The special was filmed in December 2025 at Center Stage Theatre in Atlanta, directed by Mike “Homeless Pimp” Lavin and produced through 3 Nuts Studios by Lavin alongside Jason Nower and John-J Sheridan.

The title carries some history. It comes from the headline tour Brookzz ran through 2025, a 40-city stretch that moved more than 100,000 tickets, which itself followed his “Unhand Me Now” run the previous year.

Two consecutive touring cycles of that scale, built largely without a network special or a legacy platform behind them, explain why the Netflix deal reads less like a discovery than a formality.

For decades, a Black comedian’s route to a national audience ran through gatekeepers, a booking on late night, a network deal, and a long stretch of hoping one of them materialized. Brookzz skipped that entirely.

Brookzz built a following through clips and consistent touring, arriving at the streaming conversation with an audience already assembled and receipts to match.

Filming at Center Stage rather than a larger arena venue suggests a deliberate choice as well. The Atlanta theater seats roughly 1,050, small enough to preserve the club dynamic where crowd work and timing land properly, rather than the arena scale that flattens both.

Lavin’s involvement is worth noting. He has built a reputation directing specials for comedians operating outside the traditional pipeline, and his partnership with Brookzz through 3 Nuts Studios gives the project continuity with the world the comedian built rather than an outside production imposing its own shape on it.

The streaming deal gives Brookzz something touring never could, which is simultaneity. Instead of working his way city by city, the whole special lands everywhere at once on Oct. 6.
