Since emerging in the late 1990s, he has built an international career with hit songs including “Heads High,” “Nike Air,” “Bruk It Down,” “Hot Wuk,” “Tek Weh Yuhself,” and “Hot Gal Today,” his popular collaboration with Sean Paul.

Other entertainment personalities receiving national recognition this year include legendary guitarist Earl “Chinna” Smith, veteran producers Michael “Mikie” Bennett and Robert Livingston, and the late ska and rocksteady pioneer Stranger Cole, who will be honored posthumously.

A total of 140 Jamaicans will receive National Honours and Awards during the official investiture ceremony at King’s House on National Heroes Day in October. The annual awards recognize exceptional achievements in fields including music, public service, business, medicine, sports, education and philanthropy.
