Empowering Black Entrepreneurship: Stories of Success, Strategy & Growth

Navan, the leading all-in-one business travel and expense management platform, has announced the appointment of Anré Williams to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Williams, who most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of American Express National Bank and Group President of Enterprise Services at American Express, brings over 35 years of executive leadership experience and a track record of driving innovation in the financial services and business travel industries. Williams is currently Senior Executive Advisor at American Express.

“Anré’s proven leadership across fintech, enterprise technology, and travel uniquely positions him to help drive Navan’s commitment to revolutionize business travel and expense management,” said Ariel Cohen, Co-Founder and CEO of Navan. “We look forward to leveraging his expertise as we further build out our platform and deliver even more value to our customers around the world.”

“I’ve spent my entire career at the forefront of payments, travel, expense management, and technology, and I am incredibly excited to join Navan during a period of rapid innovation and growth,” said Williams. “Navan is disrupting the status quo and I support the company’s ambition to simplify and modernize business travel through their cutting-edge AI initiatives and their focus on building a platform that puts travelers first.”

During his decades-long tenure at American Express, Anré was a key architect behind the company’s global success, spearheading initiatives that expanded card acceptance among small businesses, strengthened partnerships with the world’s top corporations, and oversaw the company’s consumer travel operations and digital platform strategies. Williams also served as an independent director at Illinois Tool Works Inc. (NYSE: ITW) from 2010 to 2023, and at Ryerson Holding Corp. (NYSE: RYI) from 2004 to 2007.

Williams’ appointment comes as Navan continues working to reshape the business travel landscape with recent announcements focused on groundbreaking AI advancements and new data-driven insights. In the past few weeks, Navan has announced Navan Cognition, an advanced AI platform already proving its value on the front lines of global travel customer support through Navan’s own AI assistant, Ava, and has also unveiled the Navan Business Travel Index, delivering powerful new insights into corporate travel behaviors and spending patterns.

Williams joins an esteemed Board that includes Ben Horowitz of Andreessen Horowitz, Oren Zeev of Zeev Ventures, Arif Janmohamed of Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mike Kourey, Clara Liang, Sandesh Patnam, and Navan’s co-founders, Ariel Cohen and Ilan Twig.
