Robert Jerome Gore
Robert Jerome Gore passed away peacefully at home in Hapeville, Georgia, on February 2, 2025, at the age of 92.
He was born on April 22, 1932, to Mary Wilcox and Jerome Gore.
Robert grew up on the Georgia coast, and in his heart he never left. After finishing high school, Robert joined the Army and served as a medic in Germany. He studied at Georgia Southern College, where he met Sara, who he would marry and spend the next 62 years of his life with in Hapeville.
Robert was a proud Presbyterian, having joined the historic Presbyterian Church in Darien. He always gave credit to the kind neighbor who introduced Robert and other neighborhood children to the Presbyterian church. Robert proudly served as an elder in both the Hapeville Presbyterian and East Presbyterian churches.
Robert was dedicated to serving his church and community through volunteer work. He tutored children in a housing project for several years and was always ready to help where help was needed. He loved the outdoors and planted over 50 dogwood and crepe myrtles in the neighborhood. Robert was devoted to his family and created many happy memories with granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Robert was known – by family, friends and strangers alike – for his gregarious and kind personality, hardworking spirit and humble attitude.
Rober was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Wilcox and Jerome Gore; and his sisters, Carolyn Adams and Gloria Strickland.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; his daughter, Mary; his son-in-law, Sankar; his granddaughters, Sara and Priya; his siblings, Jack and Wayne Gore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Morrow Presbyterian Church Food Pantry or the first Presbyterian Church in Darien, GA.
