What You’ll Need for this Recipe

Pickles and pickle brine (aka pickle juice). Use your favorite kind here because the flavor matters. Kosher, dill, bread-and-butter, or spicy pickles are all fair game.
Prosecco and Club Soda combine for plenty of effervescence and a mouthfeel taste. You could get away with mineral water in a pinch, but club soda is going to taste the best.

Substitutions & Variations
Lemon – A wedge of lime or sour orange would work just as well in place of lemon here.
Vodka – Use whichever brand of vodka you enjoy the most in this drink. I’ll be honest, vodka is not my spirit of choice and generally tastes neutral to me, but if you have a discerning palate, lean into it! Alternatively, you can use a non-alcoholic spirit to make it virgin.
Salt Rim – Instead of regular salt, you can try your favorite seasoned salt blend or something smoky like Tajin.
How to Make a Pickle Brine Cocktail

- Step One: Rim the glass in lemon juice, followed by salt. (Photos 1 and 2)
- Step Two: Add ice, pickle juice, vodka, prosecco, and club soda to the glass. (Photos 3-5)
- Step Three: Stir, then garnish with pickles and serve. (Photo 6)
Pro Tip #1
I use a jigger to measure out the liquids, but you can use a shot glass instead–it measures about the same volume as the large end of a standard jigger!
Frequently Asked Questions
Fill a pitcher or carafe ¾ full with ice, then pour in eight ounces of pickle brine, six ounces of Prosecco, four ounces of vodka, and three ounces of club soda. Stir to combine and serve over fresh ice. Serves four.
How to Serve
Temperature: Serve this cocktail immediately while it’s ice cold for the best flavor and to avoid it getting watered down.
Garnishes: You can get as creative as you want with the garnishes, and don’t feel restricted to mini pickles or gherkins, as shown in my pictures. Pickle slices can also be twisted and threaded on a cocktail pick for a sophisticated finish.
