Style Spotlight: Looks, Trends & Fashion Inspiration

Taye Diggs recently shared a candid glimpse into life with his 15-year-old son, revealing that while the teen has inherited his parents’ talent, he’s charting his own path.

“He’s got the acting and musical ability, for sure but he doesn’t use it,” Diggs said with a smile. “He’s all about basketball, so that’s where his performance energy goes. The only time he sets foot in a theater is when his mom, Idina [Menzel], or I are on stage. Otherwise? He can’t stand musical theatre.”

As a theater-loving dad, Diggs admitted he sometimes feels like he’s chasing his son’s attention. “I feel like a nerdy teenager around him,” he joked. “It’s like I’m constantly on a first date trying to impress him, get a reaction. You know what I mean?”

Diggs also reflected on his return to the Broadway stage in Moulin Rouge! a show he holds close to his heart. “It’s a blessing they still want me back,” he said. “It’s truly one of my favorite shows I’ve seen it at least eight times. Being in my 50s and still living out this dream? That’s a gift.”

In this production, Diggs steps into the role of the antagonist. “At first, I thought the character would be cute and sexy, but it turned out to be way more demanding than I expected,” he admitted. “But I’m loving every second of it, it’s been an incredible ride.” See a video clip inside…
