Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating New Year with family, friends, and loved ones. With a new year, I love how we get an automatic time to reset and start over. I am ready to hit refresh. Are you ready for a fresh start? Now that the new year has begun, it is that time of the year again when the new year provides a clean slate from the previous year, making it ideal for people to make goals they hope to accomplish for the next twelve months. Every year, it is natural for a lot of us to hope things will be different. As the calendar turns to January, we are filled with hope that this year 2025 is going to be different and that things are going to be better. With that hope, we are ready to hit refresh and make new year resolutions to carry on. As I look back on 2021, which started with the loss of my dad, it wasn’t an easy year to start; but in all, it has been a fulfilling year for my life and career in general. I look forward to 2022 and the great things in store for me. For me, the best way to start my year is to be present and intentional. I am more goal-oriented than resolutions. This year, I want to be intentional about my health in the areas of self-care, fitness, and mental health.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you make the same New Year’s resolutions every year? For a lot of us, our new year’s resolution includes making lifestyle changes. Everyone is ready to hit the gym, workout, eat healthier and better themselves.  While these resolutions are great, it is not always easy to keep because life happens.  So, don’t beat yourself up or rather, don’t focus so much on making new year’s resolutions. Focus on your overall well being, self-care and mental health.  Be intentional, make smart decisions and conscious health choices. Even more so, here is an easy and the best way to start your new year.

The Best Way To Start Your New Year 2022

The Best Way To Start Your New Year

    1) Start by working towards improving your fitness. Start gradually and work towards making it a lifestyle rather than a goal for the year. Workout to feel good, healthy and less emphasis to be slimmer. Exercises such as walking, hiking, dancing and/or other activities that bring you joy. Restructuring your eating habits by focusing on healthy food choices  as this  will  become an essential staple in your self-care routine. Focus  on becoming healthier and stronger throughout this year. Grab yourself a new workout outfit and work towards a healthier you!

    2) Set reasonable goals for improvement. It’s okay not to be where you want or need to be tomorrow, next day or next month. Set your own pace and be consistent towards it. No matter what it is, if you’re starting with a fitness goal, you should focus on developing small daily goals so that no unnecessary hurdles are standing in the way of reaching your long-term goals.

    3) Work on becoming a better you by focusing on self-care. When you focus on self-care, it is essential to do things such as take time every day for yourself, get enough sleep, meditate for 15 minutes every day and drink plenty of water so that your body is working at its best time.

    4) Don’t give up if things don’t go exactly how you planned. To succeed in anything in life, it takes patience and perseverance. Don’t let yourself become overwhelmed if you have a day where you struggle with your goal or if your efforts don’t seem to make much of a difference.

This year, choose to make a lasting change by being consistent with your lifestyle choices, your health, fitness, self-care and more importantly mental health.

Remember, being healthy isn’t meant to feel like an obligation or something you dread having to do every day. It should be fun! You can take advantage of all the opportunities available in your community for staying fit throughout this year by trying out different sports, taking up bike riding, or joining local yoga classes. Once you start making resolutions that focus on self-care, fitness and mental health, you are sure to feel happier, healthier, and more motivated than ever before. This year, make it a year filled with happiness and kindness!
