PARÍS (AP) — Un agente de policía francés enfrentará un juicio el próximo año por cargos de homicidio voluntario por la muerte de un joven de 17 años de ascendencia norteafricana, un hecho que desencadenó disturbios a nivel nacional.

La fiscalía del suburbio parisino de Nanterre, donde Nahel Merzouk creció y murió baleado en 2023, anunció en un comunicado que los magistrados decidieron el martes enviar al policía a juicio tras una investigación de dos años.

El agente, identificado en los documentos legales solo como Florian M., fue inicialmente detenido pero liberado unos meses después a la espera de una investigación adicional. Se espera que enfrente juicio en el tercer trimestre de 2026, según informó la oficina del fiscal.
