Original Family Ownership – Vintage, high-end, handmade, 1940 Charak Furniture Company (Boston, MA), solid mahogany, two-tier end / side, two bulb, table lamp (Piece # 4097, 1940) with lampshade. CONDITION: EXCELLENT. The table has retained its original rich, mahogany dark finish. There are no scratches, fading, discolorations or stains. Its construction remains tight and sturdy. The table has a carved pedestal base with three (3) elegant, swept legs. The legs and the two-tiers (all 4 corners) have carved foliate designs. The two (2) light, antique brass pull-chain sockets work fine, giving off attractive illumination. The champage-colored, braided trim lamp shade is in excellent condition. The table lamp was purchased by the owner’s parents in 1940 from A. H. Stiehl Furniture Company, 28 West 20th Street, NYC (see photo no. 22). The table lamp would be a wonderful addition to a living / family room or bedroom.

Height: 53” (floor to brass finial top piece); Floor to 1st Tier: 22”; Open Space from 1st tier to 2nd tier: 10.5”; 2nd Tier to brass finial top piece: 21”;
Tier Sizes; 1st Tier: 20” x 20”; 2nd Tier: 12.5” x 12.5”.
Braided Trim Lampshade: 19” Diameter, 11” Height.
The span of the three (3) legs is 16”.

The Charak Furniture Company of Boston (est. 1919) was a leading 20th-century furniture manufacturer of high-quality hand-made and bench-made reproductions of traditional colonial / early American furniture. Charak thrived through the 1920’s and unlike many American furniture manufacturers, survived the Depression of the 1930’s.
