    i've never panned for gold in my life i'm wanting to try this year and i don't know a thing about it.i have most of the stuff to do it i bought though Ebay I would like more information on where to go and rules or some one to take me under there wing and teach me. lol i'm in the Okanogan area or point me where i can find out where to go in this area Thanks.

    I’m at miners flat The River is low. The river is full of LARGE rocks. Spud bar is useless. I also Went up to the next exit (dirt road) and then To the blm “park” (all dirt) The river is full of HUGE rocks The rocks are super slippery with moss. The area is I uneven and treacherous but in the water. Where the hell are you guys talking about?

    UNBELIEVABLE…BEEN WORKING THE LOWER RIVER TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO GET UP TO MR. G'S. (RIVER IS IMPASSABLE WITHOUT AN AIRBOAT, WHICH I'M SHOPPING FOR….ALL THE OLD PLACER CLAIMS HELD BY CURRENT LAND OWNERS ARE ON THE MAP AS REACHING TO THE CENTER OF THE RIVER, YOU GET EYEBALLED A BIT, BUT THE WILD RIVERS ACT SAYS ANY RIVER THAT WAS NAVIGABLE-EVER, (THIS ONE IS AND WAS), YOU CAN ONLY OWN TO THE HIGH WATER MARK. YESTERDAY I WENT WITH A COUPLE OF BUDDIES TO WORK MINER'S FLAT AND CUTCHIE#4, WE DID NOT SEE ONE PROSPECTOR ANYWHERE ON THE ENTIRE RIVER….HEAR ME,, IT IS WIDE-OPEN. I THINK THE HEAT WAVE AND FIRES DISCOURAGED ANYONE MAKING A TRIP OF OF ANY DISTANCE. WE HAD A BEAUTIFUL DAY, GOT ABOUT 40 POUNDS OF BLACK SAND AND FINE GOLD CONCENTRATES, BUT I FORGOT THE METAL DETECTORS, SO WE JUST FOUND BEDROCK AND DREDGED WITH MY FUNKY OLD SET-UP. A PERFECT DAY. GETTING THE MOTOR HOME SET-UP AND GOING BACK UNTIL I HAVE DONE WHAT YOU SAID TO PERFECTLY…WE HAVE AT LEAST 45 DAYS TO WORK, AND I'VE NEVER SEEN THE WATER THIS LOW.     BRING YOUR SEA DORIES, BY ALL MEANS. PLENTY OF BOAT PARKING AT MINERS FLAT AND ADJOINING AREA JUST 150 YDS.UP RIVER-WHICH ALSO HOLDS GOLD. BE FUNNY AS HELL TO SEE THE LOCAL "AUTHORITIES" FORCED TO REPORT ALL THESE BOATS, THAT THEN NEVER GO IN THE WATER AFTER BEING CALLED-IN…:) ONLY ONE MOTEL YOU'D WANT TO STAY IN IN OROVILLE. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF RV PARKS THAT ARE GOOD-SIZED. ONE RIGHT ON THE RIVER ABOUT 1/2 MILE BELOW MR. G'S OLD CAMPGROUND THAT MATT MENTIONS. THERE'S AN OFFICIAL "PARK" WITH RV AND TENT CAMPING ON LAKE OSOOYOOS RIGHT IN OROVILLE.     I live in oroville Washington and appreciate the information. I pan quite a bit along the similkameen river. I am in my second season of panning so I am still an amateur. Yet last summer, my first season, I panned 3.5 grams of placer gold. This season i have just over 2 grams so far but am set to beat last seasons weigh in. Due to research and application, I have recently found a paystreak of larger flakes and occasional picker or specimen. The specimens here are gold with white quartz, clear quartz crystals and darker stone at times. Really beautiful pieces. The paystreak I am currently on is a gravel flat that catches a lot of heavy material during flood waters. So it is just now accessable again. I have high hopes of what it may produce. If you are willing, I would love your advice on how deep to dig. I feel the larger gold is in older and undisturbed layers of settled river bed….

    6/20/21 the trail up the south side of the samilkameen is closed for the year for repairs and upgrades at the old power station. safety concerns, new bridge, etc.

    Great information, as usual Matt! Yes, we still have the Gold and Fish pamphlet but rivers here have certain months and dates we can do any prospecting on at all (even panning). The Similkameen River has three sections and each has it's own open months.
    Don't take a chance on the dates! It's fine to smash business windows, in Washington State and curse the police but don't muddy the water a day early or a day late!
    This is from June 2020 so, dates may have changed a bit. Just call the Game and Fish for update. We have to fight for every little bit of freedom left in this libstate…good thing is Central and Eastern Washington is red.
    Mouth to Enloe Dam – July 1 to August 31
    Enloe dam to Palmer Creek – June 1 to October 31
    Upstream of Palmer Creek July 1 to October 31

    Hi Matt, thank you so much for sharing this info to us Washington prospectors/miners. Since now there is no motorized equipment allowed, we are left with a metal detector, river sluice and a pan. If you had to work an area outside of the water with that equipment and like finding lots of fine gold, where would you go at in this video? Thank you in advance, heading there this coming weekend.

    HI MATT, I QUICKLY DISCOVERED THAT GARRETT 500'S ARE RARE AS HEN'S TEETH. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE "SEA HUNTER MARK 2"? ONLY DETECTOR I HAVE IS AN AT PRO, AND I THINK I'VE READ MOST OF GARRETT'S BOOKS ON DETECTORS. I ALSO KNOW WHY I WILL BE THE FIRST MOTOR HOME AT MINER'S FLAT THIS YEAR, DURING HIGH WATER, LEARNING IN THE DRY. AS YOU KNOW THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SHADE AT MINER'S FLATS, BUT I HAVE A LARGE OLD MOTOR HOME WITH AN EXCELLENT ALUMINUM ROLL-OUT CANOPY, AND GAS HEAT. COMMUTE BY BOAT. LADIES AND SUPPORT FOLKS LIKE A/C AND HEAT, AND AS YOU ALSO KNOW, YOU'RE ON A TREELESS HIGH SPOT IN THE RIVER CANYON, AND WHEN IT BLOWS SOUTH FROM B.C., IT CAN FREEZE YOUR ASS-OFF IN MINUTES. AND I HAVE RESEARCHED THE HISTORY THOROUGHLY, AND UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY WHAT A "ROCK DOMINO CARPET" IS, AND WHAT IT DOES. EVERY YEAR WHEN THE WATER CLEARS AND GOES DOWN, YOU WOULD SWEAR NOTHING AT ALL HAS MOVED.     i live in everett wa. so last summer i made the trip and spent two weeks prospecting and everything on this video is true . i followed all his tips and i had over 21ounces of gold … biggest nugget weighed 4.67 ounces and most being 1-2 ounces. i was shaking everytime my detector would signal. im to old to go again for health reasons so thats why im telling you what i found . if i was still capable of going i surely would not be posting this….. i just hope anyone that is willing to work the ripples and break through the false bedrock will find that the signal is gold and will be 12 to 30 inches deep. so as he said get the basic pulse detector and it will not fail you . also get a nice underwater pointer and a screen shovel to excavate the hole .. the flow of water helps to wash the small stuff out but it took me about an hour at eaach signasl to actually get the nug in my hand …..so beware that it is physically challenging but well worth the time.as i said i was there 2 weeks and worked maybe 2 percent of what i had planned in a grid sweep detecting style because i would signal everey t15 minutes and it took an hour to dig it out . so be prepared and bring lots of water because it gets hotter than hell but you will get very cooled off in the eve. so bring very warm clothes also . god bless all you prospectors and remember to be discreet there because of the ranger being nosy . i just told him i wasnt haveing much luck and he said well sorry to hear that but iyts in there and its big so good luck . i sold four specimen and all the resty of my nugs for 182 thousand dollars. more gold in two weeks than it 40 years of prospecting .. thanks to this channel im now retired and moving to alaska to live out my life in a small but comfortable cabin with my two l malimutes i will still pan a little and detect a little but i dont think i will ever find a spot like that again . you could actually probnably retire if you sprnt 3 months with a detyector . so good luck fellas and gals

    HEY MATT, I WAS UP IN THE FIRE ZONE YESTERDAY, FROM MINER'S FLATS TO UP IN THE TOATS COULEE, AND "THE FIRES" WERE ALL "SMOKES" IN THE SUPER STEEP GROUND, I SAW NO RAGING FIRES IN THE SAMILKAMEEN DRAINAGE AT ALL. BUT FISH AND WILDLIFE HAS STARTED A FIGHT THEY ARE GOING TO LOSE. THEY ARBITRARILY SHUT DOWN DREDGING FOR NO REASON. THIS IS GOING TO TRIGGER, HAS TRIGGERED, A "WHO IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" RESPONSE. WHOLE LOTTA DREDGERS, ARMED TO THE TEETH. WE'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THEM…
