    Key takeaways
    • Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says booking photos are discretionary; released only for violent crimes or immediate public threats.
    • TMZ first reported the mugshot news; sheriff’s official says Britney Spears' charges do not meet criteria for release.
    • Britney Spears was arrested March 4 by the California Highway Patrol for DUI; she's due in court May 4 and deactivated Instagram.
    • Her conservatorship ended November 2021; she criticized her father Jamie Spears, and split from husband Sam Asghari in August 2023.

Britney Spears‘ mugshot will not be released publicly after her DUI arrest earlier this month, Us Weekly can confirm.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told Us on Tuesday, March 10, that Spears’ booking photo “does not fall within the requirements and is considered discretionary.”

An official at the California sheriff’s office added, “It is our practice to release booking photos for violent crimes or when an individual is an immediate threat to the public. The charges being brought against Brittany Spears does not warrant release in accordance with our policy.” (TMZ was first to report the mugshot news.)

Because Spears, 44, does not fall into either category, her mugshot will be kept private.

There hasn’t been a dull moment for Britney Spears since the pop star confirmed her split from ex Sam Asghari. After chronicling a night out with pals on August 20, Spears introduced fans to her brand-new puppy, Snow, three days later. That same afternoon, she was spotted driving a white Mercedes-Benz with a mystery man […]

News broke on Thursday, March 5, that Spears was taken into police custody after she was arrested by the California Highway Patrol one day prior. Spears, who is due in court again on May 4, deactivated her Instagram following her arrest for driving under the influence.

Spears’ legal trouble came nearly five years after her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021. Before the official decision was made in court, Spears spoke out about dad Jamie Spears placing her under the conservatorship in 2008.

“The main reason why I’m here is because I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated,” she said during a court hearing at the time. “I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years, and it’s enough.”

Britney Spears was arrested for driving under the influence on Wednesday, March 4. Every detail — from her reported blood alcohol level to the status of her Instagram account — has been making headlines. The arrest occurred nearly five years after her conservatorship ended. Spears was placed under a conservatorship following her 2007 split from […]

After the conservatorship came to an end, Spears made headlines when she married longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari. The pair ultimately split in August 2023 after 13 months of marriage and six years together.

“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” Asghari, 32, wrote via an Instagram Story statement at the time. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always.”

Asghari went on to say that “s*** happens” while reflecting on the breakup, adding, “Asking for privacy seems rediculous [sic] so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”

Spears, for her part, shared her own thoughts on her divorce, explaining via Instagram that she was “a little shocked” Asghari called it quits. “But … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!” she detailed. “But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!”

The singer recalled “playing it strong for way too long” before pulling the plug on her marriage.

“I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!! If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!!” she continued, referring to past accusations against her father about her conservatorship. “But that’s when I needed family the most !!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!! So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”

Spears later moved on with Paul Richard Soliz, who was present when she was allegedly escorted out of the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles in May 2024. Photos surfaced at the time of Spears walking out of the hotel alongside Soliz while wrapped in a blanket. (The pair have since called it quits.)

“Emergency services received a call at 12:42 a.m. with reports of an adult female injured,” Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey shared in a statement. “At 1:00 a.m. an ambulance arrived on the premises. I can confirm no one was transported. Services left the scene at 1:17 a.m. The police department were not called.”
