RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) — Two athletes at Richmond Hill High School committed to continue their athletic careers at the next level on Jan. 8.
Avery Washington is committed to play lacrosse at Piedmont University. Washington started on the team since she was a freshman. She has played in 44 games scoring 65 goals and 29 assists for a total of 94 points in her first three seasons.
“Piedmont stood out to me because the team was very friendly along with the coaches, and the campus was beautiful,” Washington said. “It had a nice hiking facility and trails to go running on, and I really just fell in love with the whole campus.”
Also announcing their plans for the next level is offensive lineman Thomas Zimbalatti. The graduating senior is 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds. He helped open running lanes for Joshua Troupe this year, who almost had 1400 yards rushing.
“With Murray State,” Zimbalatti said, “the atmosphere was great, they’re building a good program. They didn’t have the season they wanted to last year, but this year they’ve really taken time to recruit. They’re building a good group of guys this year. So I’m excited.”
