13 Going on 30 star Christa B. Allen has claimed that she escaped a cult after falling in love with its leader.

The actress, who starred as the teenage version of Jennifer Garner’s character in the popular movie, which is also known as Suddenly 30, shared a video to TikTok explaining that she is “rebuilding [her] life” after ending her relationship with who she claims was a “cult leader”.

“How it feels rebuilding your life after being in love with a charismatic wealthy cult leader who burned it to the ground,” she wrote over a video of her dancing in a grassy field.

The video was set to Chappell Roan’s song The Subway with the lyrics, “She got away”.

In the caption she continued: “Let me be very clear: nobody can burn down your life unless you give them access to it. That’s the part I’ve had to own.”

“So I’ve sat with the hardest questions: Why did I trust him? Why did I hand over my power? Why did I silence my own inner knowing?

“The truth is, he was selling fairytales and from luxurious penthouses and private jets, I foolishly bought in.”

Allen reflected on becoming caught up in the relationship and later learning that he may not have been who she thought he was, despite spending plenty of time together.

“What I learned is that even if you spend every waking moment with someone – studying, eating, travelling, working, building, dreaming – you still may not know them.

“Especially when you’re dealing with someone who lies as easily as they breathe.

“That realisation shattered me but it also forced me to rebuild from the ground up.”

She concluded her post, writing: “One day I’ll share the full story but for now I’m walking forward with feet on solid ground and a heart that knows its strength.”

Allen did not name the person who she claims was a “cult leader” in her video.

In follow up videos to her TikTok audience, Allen explained that her relationship with the man was, for a period, “the most beautiful, magical, connected, supportive, seemingly divinely orchestrated connection”.

Their relationship, she says, came about after they met online with the “algorithm [bringing them] together” as they had a shared passion for spirituality.

They then moved in together three days after they met, which she concedes, “in hindsight was probably not a good idea”.

She claims that he was very “doting” and supportive until ”he cut me off at the knees”.

Allen further claimed that the man she referred to “is really great at identifying talent for business” and will use his connections for “whatever he’s building in his business” before “discarding” them.

“All of this is not inherently a problem,” she clarified.

“It’s not a problem to build a business with someone. What is a problem is the lying, cheating and manipulating that’s happening in order to put all of that in process,” she said.
