The two-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter is best known for a career that spans decades, including beloved hits such as “Can You Stop the Rain” and “Feel the Fire,” as well as Academy Award-winning duets with Celine Dion and Regina Belle.

A statement shared on behalf of the singer confirmed the news yesterday. “Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer, Peabo Bryson — the voice behind the Oscar-winning Disney songs ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘A Whole New World’ — has suffered a stroke and is currently under medical care,” the statement reads.

Bryson has remained one of R&B’s most respected vocalists throughout his career, earning multiple Grammy Awards and chart success across the R&B, pop, and adult contemporary genres. His collaborations and solo recordings have helped establish him as one of the defining balladeers of his generation.

No additional information regarding his condition has been released at this time.
