NEWTON COUNTY — Two individuals have been named as persons of interest in a shooting that took place at Salem Quick Stop gas station on June 15.

Deangelo Martez Kilpatrick, 16, and Quinnterrious Davon Cannon, 21, were named by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) on Monday as wanted in connection to the incident.

Details have been scarce on what happened, but the NCSO said in its initial press release that officers responded to a “shots fired” scene at the gas station between Salem and Kirkland Road at around 2:55 p.m. on June 15.

Kilpatrick is wanted for aggravated assault, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property and possession of a handgun under the age of 18. Cannon is wanted for aggravated assault, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and “other charges.”

The NCSO says that both are “considered dangerous” and should not be approached.

Additionally, the NCSO is looking to identify two individuals who were in the store at the time of the shooting. One individual pictured is a Black male with medium blonde dreadlocks, a black jacket and white sneakers. The other individual, a Black female, was seen wearing a black hoodie, sweats and sandals. It is not clear if either face charges, but the NCSO is asking the public to not approach either person.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Kilpatrick or Cannon is urged to call 911 and asked to contact Investigator Alberto at 678-625-1429 or email [email protected]. Likewise, the NCSO is asking the public to contact Investigator Alberto with any information on the two unidentified individuals.
