Tomorrow’s Tech, Today: Innovation That Moves Us Forward
- GTA 6 is causing a seismic shift in the 2026 gaming landscape, reshaping release strategies across studios.
- Rockstar Games set a release date of November 19 after a few delays.
- Other studios avoided November; from August to October there are 30+ releases, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Marvel's Wolverine, and Gears of War: E-Day.
- Only Godzilla is willing to brave going up against GTA 6 in November.
- Preorders available through PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and the Rockstar Games Store; storefront crashes are expected.
The wait is almost over. Almost 13 years after the last mainline Grand Theft Auto game, preorders for Grand Theft Auto 6 are set to go live at midnight local time tonight. Rockstar Games announced the base game will cost $80 and the Ultimate Edition of the game, filled with personalized weapons, vehicles and more, will cost $100.
This single game has caused a seismic shift in the gaming landscape of 2026. Once Rockstar announced the game would be released on November 19 — after a few delays — every other gaming studio has avoided the month like the plague.
August, September and October are packed with at least 30 releases across those months, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on Aug. 27, Marvel’s Wolverine on Sept. 15 and Gears of War: E-Day on Oct. 6. But November? According to GameRant, only Godzilla is willing to brave going up against GTA 6. Everyone seems to be expecting GTA 6 to hit the market with the size and force of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, and they’re all trying to stay clear of the blast zone.
You’ll be able to preorder the game at the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and other online storefronts. I just hope all the preorder storefronts don’t crash. (They definitely will.)
