Real Estate News & Market Insights:

    Key takeaways
    • While husband was away, Lindsay Clancy strangled Cora, Dawson and infant Callan; two died that night, Callan days later; Lindsay left paralyzed.
    • Patrick Clancy plans to testify, defended his wife in The New Yorker, forgave her, and quietly sold the Duxbury home while relocating to Manhattan.
    • Jury selection begins July 20 at Plymouth Superior Court; if convicted Lindsay Clancy faces life without parole; trial expected six to eight weeks.

Former nurse Lindsay Clancy‘s murder trial begins in Massachusetts today—more than three years after she was accused of murdering her three children inside the family home.

Clancy, 35, has admitted to taking the lives of daughter Cora, 5, and sons Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, but has pled not guilty to the three first-degree murder charges she is facing, alleging that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time of their deaths.

Her defense team will now try and convince a jury that their client should not be held accountable because of a “lack of criminal responsibility,” according to The Boston Globe.

The former nurse has accused several medical providers of malpractice and negligence, claiming that she was repeatedly misdiagnosed, even as her symptoms continued to worsen. On the night of Jan. 24, 2023, she reportedly experienced suicidal hallucinations and heard a voice telling her that it was her “last chance” to kill herself and her children.

The prosecution, however, is arguing that she wasn’t diagnosed with postpartum depression and that the murders seem premeditated, calling attention to the fact that Clancy had reportedly looked up ways to murder on her cellphone prior to the deaths of her children.

While her husband, Patrick Clancy, was picking up a takeout meal, Clancy strangled her children then tried to take her own life by cutting her neck and wrists, then throwing herself out of her bedroom window at the family’s Duxbury, MA, home.

Cora and Dawson were pronounced dead that same night, while Callan died in the hospital a few days later. Lindsay survived her injuries, but was left paralyzed from the waist down.

Clancy’s husband is expected to serve as a witness for the defense, Fox News reports, noting that he is one of more than 200 people who could be called to testify in the trial.

Patrick has previously spoken out about his wife’s horrifying crimes, sitting down with The New Yorker in October 2024 to defend her against critics, insisting that she was not “a monster.”

At the time of the interview, the father of three explained that he had since relocated from Massachusetts to an apartment in New York City, quietly selling off the family’s Duxbury home in an off-market deal.

    Lindsay Clancy’s husband speaks out

In the interview, Patrick insisted that he “wasn’t married to a monster,” explaining how his wife had been suffering from anxiety and insomnia, which were brought on by her pregnancy with Callan.

Weeks before the terrible tragedy, he said, she had been hospitalized before being sent home with anti-depressants. Despite all this, he said that he believed that her only diagnosis was a generalized anxiety disorder.

“I wasn’t married to a monster—I was married to someone who got sick,” he told the publication, adding that he had chosen to speak out to prevent further “lies and misinformation” from being spread.

Shortly after the deaths of his children, Patrick had issued a personal statement in which he asked the public to forgive his wife.

“A lot of people have said they can’t imagine and they’re right, there’s absolutely nothing that can prepare you,” he wrote in the statement, which was shared on a GoFundMe page set up by his loved ones.

“The shock and pain is excruciating and relentless. I’m constantly reminded of them and with the little sleep I get, I dream about them on repeat. Any parent knows, it’s impossible to understand how much you will love your kids until you have them.

“The same goes for understanding the devastation of losing them. Cora, Dawson, and Callan were the essence of my life and I’m completely lost without them.

“My family was the best thing that ever happened to me. I took so much pride in being Lindsay’s husband and a dad to Cora, Dawson, and Callan. I always reminded myself that each day with them was a new gift.”

He then shared touching tributes to each of his children, calling attention to his favorite things about them, including son Dawson’s “bold, brown eyes” and daughter Cora’s “infection laugh.”

However, despite his grief, Patrick insisted that he had forgiven his wife, while urging the public to do the same.

“I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have,” he continued.

“The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone—me, our kids, family, friends, and her patients. The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace.”

    Moving on

While the Clancy family home does not appear to have been listed for public sale since the tragic events unfolded inside it, Patrick revealed to The New Yorker that he had, in fact, sold it to an anonymous buyer, adding during the interview that he’d just been informed the sale has officially closed.

“There’s no house anymore,” he said. “There are no kids. All that’s left is me and Lindsay.”

He explained that he cleared out the house shortly after taking a solo trip to Central America and Europe in February 2024. He drove around his neighborhood gifting his children’s stuffed animals and unused arcade cards to their friends.

Built in 1972, the home has been updated with refinished hardwood floors, a newer roof, and a redone kitchen with granite counters and new appliances and flooring. The three-bedroom, 1.5-bath interior spans 1,732 square feet with a remodeled extra room between the garage and kitchen.

The home sits on a tree-lined lot on almost an acre, with a deck, stone patio, and grassy lawn. The coastal town offers an “acclaimed” school system and a beautiful beach.

According to Realtor.com® records, the home last changed hands in 2018 for $500,000.

Clancy’s murder trial begins with jury selection

Clancy is expected to appear at the Plymouth Superior Court when jury selection begins on July 20. If she is found guilty of the charges levied against her, she faces life in prison without parole.

According to The New York Times, Judge William Sullivan previously announced plans to seat 18 jurors, including six alternates, noting that Clancy’s trial is expected to last anywhere from six to eight weeks.
