The Tennessee Titans took to the field on Tuesday, and tempers boiled over and a punch was thrown, leading to Jeffery Simmons being ejected from practice.
The offense and defense had some spirited competition, but the defense won the day, as the uneven offense sputtered throughout the morning. Even though Cam Ward hit the highlights with a long touchdown to Carnell Tate, his inaccuracies early set the tone.

The intensity was up, and so was the competition, and a few players stood out. Here is a breakdown of some of the players who made an impact today.
James Williams again!
Not only did Williams pull in a one-handed interception off Mitch Trubisky, but he also broke up another pass attempt and was all over the field. Williams is clearly battling with Elic Ayomanor for having the best camp, and has to maintain that consistency.
Alontae Taylor had a day
Taylor did give up the big completion to Tate, but other than that was physical and outstanding. The Titans are counting on Taylor to help solidify the secondary, and he and Cor’Dale Flott are both showing up.
Chimere Dike as a spark
After a few quiet days, Dike flashed the explosive speed that made him an All-Pro specialist, making plays for the offense. It wasn’t a lot of volume, but it’s another sign of the depth in the Titans receiving room.
Anthony Hill had a big day
Anthony Hill has come into camp and made plays, carrying over some of the momentum from his offseason work. Not only is he turning heads, but it also appears he is outplaying Cody Barton and could challenge him sooner rather than later.
Tackle could be an issue
Starting left tackle Dan Moore missed the end of practice due to an undisclosed injury, which forced him into the locker room. The defense, specifically Jermaine Johnson, harassed Ward throughout practice, and neither Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson nor Austin Deculus could hold up. No update or timetable was given on Moore, but if it is anything more than a minor injury, Tennessee may be forced to make a move.
Mitch Trubisky had a day to forget
Titans backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky had a rough day, throwing three interceptions and almost a fourth. It’s unlikely that this bad day will impact the depth chart, but it’s also something to keep an eye on.
Where’s Cody
Another practice, and another day when there was little to mention of Cody Barton on the Titans’ defense, and as the veteran in the room, it’s not a good look. Through the early portions of camp, Cedric Gray, James Williams, and Anthony Hill have made splash plays and are pushing hard for playing time. Now, Barton needs to show up and join the crew.
The Titans are scheduled to have two more padded practices this week, and the intensity and physicality should increase every day. Day 6 of camp had some great back-and-forth action, so stay tuned to see what Day 7 has in store.
