    NOTRE DAME, Ind. –

    Bolstered by three top-30 individual finishes, the Georgia Southern men’s golf team took fifth place in a loaded field at the Fighting Irish Classic, hosted by Notre Dame at Warren Golf Club.

    Harrison Sewell posted his third top-15 finish in as many tournaments this fall, finishing tied for 15th with a 211 (+1). Morgan Blythe finished tied for 25th and Thomas Horne tied for 29th in the event.

    In Monday’s opening round, Sewell led the way with six birdies while Blythe had four as both players shot 69s (-1). Pierce Adamson posted an even-ar 70 to begin the day, as well. On the par-5 fourth hole, all five counters birdied the hole and Trace Cater posted an ace on the par-3 fourth hole, his first of the year. In all, the Eagles recorded 22 birdies in the opening round. In the second round, Horne carded an even-ar 70 with four birdies to lead the way.

    On Tuesday, first-year golfer Erik Erlenkeuser fired a 67 with a clean sheet and three birdies while Sewell carded a 69 with four birdies.

    For the tournament, the Eagles were second in the field on the par 3s and Sewell tied for the field low with 13 birdies. Horne tied for fifth with 12.
