Maximalists, get ready for a nail trend to top all nail trends. No, we aren’t talking about anything as jaw-dropping as “junk” nails. Instead, we’re talking about something a little more, well, elegant: “castlecore” nails. Chances are, you’ve probably already saved a photo or two on Instagram or Pinterest of the design without knowing its name, but stars like Megan Fox and Cynthia Erivo have already been seen sporting the look. It’s been making the rounds for a couple of months and growing in popularity every day, and we can totally see why — the look is fit for a royal, literally.

“Think muted, dreamy shades reminiscent of stone walls, antique tapestries, and candlelit halls,” nail artist Olivia Aguirre says. “These nails often feature delicate detailing, such as soft shimmer, matte finishes, or even subtle gold accents.”
If you’re interested in tapping into all of the feel-good and whimsical vibes, recreating the trend at home or booking an appointment at the salon, keep scrolling. Experts break down how to get the castlecore nail look ahead.

    What Are Castlecore Nails?

“Castlecore nails are a new nail aesthetic inspired by one of Pinterest’s biggest trends for 2025,” nail technician Lyssa Moss says. “With medieval-inspired fashion on the rise, this manicure style features gothic motifs, antique designs, and regal gemstones.”

Besides being super cute, why are they trending and all over our social media feeds? “This manicure trend draws inspiration from antique gemstone rings — currently a major fashion statement — to chainmail-inspired clothing.”

The fun thing about castlecore nails is that they can be completely customized to suit your nails. “You can embrace the trend with deep, rich hues reminiscent of historic royalty or opt for a neutral base adorned with filigree patterns, intricate details, and metallic accents,” Moss says.

According to Nails Inc. founder Thea Green, the trend looks best on almond, coffin, ballerina, or oval-shaped nails, but ultimately it works for all shapes and lengths. “Longer nails allow for intricate medieval-inspired designs, filigree work, and gemstone embellishments,” Green says. “If you want a more practical style, opt for an almond or oval shape with rich colors like deep red or emerald green.”

    How to Get Castlecore Nails

To start, you’ll want to decide on a nail shape and length that fits the aesthetic you’re going for. From there, pick a castlecore-inspired color palette. You can opt for regal tones, metallics, or even neutrals. A few of our favorite shades include Nails Inc. It’s Topless ($11) or the Côte Beauty Smokey Sage ($18).

Next, incorporate different design elements to nail the trend (pun intended). “Use stamping plates, nail stickers, or freehand painting to create intricate swirls and medieval patterns,” Green says.

Keep scrolling for some castlecore nail inspiration you can use to DIY or take with you to your next in-salon appointment.
