Tomorrow’s Tech, Today: Innovation That Moves Us Forward

From getting a tutorial on how to put a diaper on your baby to drafting emails to planning trips to coding while integrating technical solutions, AI is deeply rooted in our lives now. The dilemma comes to decide on which is the best one and a wiser choice to make? The same is with vouching for today’s best essential and indispensable technology, AI – ChatGPT or Gemini AI, which one is the right choice? In this blog, we’ll be solving this confusion.

Before we decide which technology is the best, we first need to understand how to judge it — the basis and fundamentals behind the comparison. Let’s take a simple everyday example: every fruit is healthy, but sometimes one fruit meets a specific need better than others. For instance, if someone has low platelet counts, papaya is considered the best option — but that doesn’t mean other fruits have no value or aren’t beneficial.

Similarly, when it comes to AI apps, we’ll evaluate each one based on specific needs and then determine which performs best overall.

    FEATURE ChatGPT Gemini AI
    Model Free: GPT-4.1 mini
Paid: GPT-5 (flagship), GPT-5 mini/nano, legacy premium models like GPT-4.1, GPT-4.5 (when available)
Free: Gemini 1.5 Flash (limited usage in Google products), Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite
Paid: Gemini 2.5 Pro (flagship reasoning model), Gemini 2.5 Flash/ Flash-Lite

About the “o” models of ChatGPT, as of Aug 2025, most of ChatGPT’s “o” models have been folded into GPT-5, hence making them unavailable separately. GPT-5 replaces them as the flagship reasoning model.

Let’s dive into each usage and its best paired AI.

    Daily Talks and Creative Writing

When I prompted Gemini AI with “Tell me a creative story,” it responded with just some paragraphs, like any chapter taken out of a book.

On the other hand, when I prompted the same to ChatGPT, it responded to me with “Alright, Shalley 🙂 “I’ll craft a creative, cinematic short story for you — something with mystery, emotion, and a little twist at the end.”

It wove the story’s narrative, titled it, gave it segments, and even asked me for further proceedings, saying If you want, Shalley, I can write you a series of such short, atmospheric stories — each one about something mysterious, beautiful, and a little unsettling, like a ‘Midnight Tales’ collection.”

ChatGPT adds a creative and more human touch with emotional responses and is a clear winner in the ‘Writing’ category.

    Coding, Reasoning & Deep Research

ChatGPT and Gemini both, with their complex AI model, handle math, reasoning, and coding well, but ChatGPT has better debugging skills and provides maximum accurate outputs.

On the other hand, Gemini AI is good but may have syntax errors and is not as competitive as the advanced GPT models.

    Image Generation

The twist with image generation capabilities of ChatGPT & Gemini is that, though Gemini generates highly visually appealing images with eye-catching graphics even faster than ChatGPT but it comprises regular errors and image distortion.

Whereas ChatGPT takes a few seconds longer to come up with results, but errors and distortions are minimal, though it’s not perfect. But what I have recently discovered is that Gemini’s image accuracy is better than before.

Both AIs have image generation limitations varying upon the version (free/paid). Gemini has a higher allowance for generation compared to ChatGPT.

    ChatGPT limits are as follows:

    • ChatGPT (Free) limits: 3 images/24-hr rolling window
    • ChatGPT (Plus) limits: 50 images/3 hr & 200/day
    • ChatGPT (Pro) limits: 100 images/hr & 400+/day

Whereas Gemini image generation limits are based on models being used, IPM, i.e., image per minute for Imagen 3 & TPM, i.e., token-per-minute for Gemini 2.0 Flash and Flash Lite, depending upon region and resolution, file size, and per-prompt limit.

    Video Generation

Gemini takes the lead in video generation with its new ‘Flow’ custom-designed only AI filmmaking tool for Google DeepMind’s most advanced models like Veo, Imagen, and Gemini. Flow, as the name suggests, allows you to craft cohesive narratives and organise all elements in one place, also allowing you to jump and extend scenes.

    Memory and File Conversions

ChatGPT can convert files from one format to another, for example, a PDF to a presentation, while Gemini doesn’t offer this service.

ChatGPT’s memory is automatically managed for all users, and it learns about your preferences and choices for the future from the previous chats, while Gemini allows you to manage it manually.

    Context Window and Integration

Both the artificial intelligence software have a drastically different context window. OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4o and GPT-4.1 have 128k tokens and 1 million tokens, respectively.

Gemini 1.5 Pro and 2.5 Pro are packed with 1-2 million tokens, making it smooth for handling long texts, documentations, code bases, and multimodal inputs.

Gemini is deeply woven in and around Google services and Google apps, and allows you to directly use AI across Gmail, Google Docs, Music, Sheets, Drives, and Maps.

ChatGPT allows various plugins and third-party apps, like Slack, Trello, Notion, HubSpot, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Zapier, and more, making it ideal for hybrid/multi-cloud environments.

ChatGPT Vs. Gemini AI – An Overview

    Feature  ChatGPT Gemini AI
Daily Convos & Writing Excellent Good
Coding and Reasoning Largely preferred (more accuracy) Good
Integration Good integration with third-party apps and plugins Excellent for working across Google apps. Lacks broader plugins.
Context Window From 8k up to 400k tokens (varying on versions and models) Up to 1-2 million tokens (varying on versions and models)
    Video Generation Good  Execellent
    Image Generation Excellent Good
    Memory Automation Manual settings
File Conversions Allows conversions Not as efficiently as ChatGPT
Voice Mode Cross platform Only mobile device
Platform Web, mobile device, and desktop Web and mobile device
Supported Language Over 50 Over 40

Bringing it to a full circle: Google’s Gemini or OpenAI’s GPT?

After thoroughly looking at the pros and cons of both AI software for different purposes and domains, we can conclude that in most areas, OpenAI’s ChatGPT stands tall in various aspects, whilst it completely depends upon an individual’s requirements and field of work. Therefore, we may infer that different AI applications can be used distinctively when it comes to you being a visionary filmmaker, a creative writer and storyteller, a number cruncher, a tech-savvy coder, or an amazing homemaker.
