Robert Lee, Jr. Obituary

Robert Edward Lee, Jr., was born on May 13, 1953, in Albany, Georgia, to the late Robert Edward Lee, Sr., and Annie Louise Washington Lee. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Washington and William Lee, and sisters, Rosemary Martin, Allene Washington, and Corene Washington. He unexpectedly passed away at his home in Darien, Georgia. Robert was raised in St. Claire Catholic Church in Albany, Georgia, and St. Frances of Xavier Catholic Church in Brunswick, Georgia, where he served as an Altar Server.

Key takeaways
  • Military service: Honorably discharged from the United States Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
  • Career: Longtime employee of the Brunswick Board of Education.
  • Family: Survived by wife Alean Lee, daughters Charmaine and Amanda, grandchildren including Isaiah.
  • Community and faith: Active in local Catholic parishes and served as an altar server in youth.
  • Hobbies: Enjoyed fishing, grilling, working on cars, cookouts, and supporting his grandson’s football.

He attended St. Francis of Xavier Catholic School through the eighth grade and then transitioned to Brunswick High. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was honorably discharged from the US Army and later moved back to Brunswick, Georgia.

Robert was employed by the Board of Education in Brunswick for many years. Robert’s favorite pastimes were fishing, grilling, working on cars, cookouts, spending time with family, and watching his grandson, Isaiah, participate with the local high school football team.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of thirty-nine years, Alean Lee of Darien, GA; two daughters, Charmaine Lee of Darien, GA, and Amanda Lee Lewis of Crestview, FL; bonus daughter-in-love, Shelley Jackson of Brunswick, GA; one sister, Adrienne Lee Williams of North Augusta, SC; three granddaughters, DaZayla Massey of Darien, GA, Antionette Lewis, and Tiara Lewis both of Crestview, FL; one grandson, Isaiah Massey of Darien, GA; sister-in-law, Lucille Mitchell (John) of Darien, GA; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Jones (Michelle) of Rhode Island, NY, and Elvin Jones of Atlanta, GA; former brother-in-law/friend, Richmond Williams III (Diane) of Hephzibah, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and his best friends, Thomas James, John H. Saddler, Jay Lee, and James Williams.
